The estate was born in 1987 when the Dipoli family bought 1.2 hectares. Peter decided to replace the local red Schiava vines which he felt didn’t perform well at high altitudes, with Sauvignon Blanc and in 1990 the first bottles of Voglar were produced. The long growing season allows great ripeness whilst retaining acidity to allow the wine to age in bottle.
In the years that followed, the estate has grown to include the Iugum vineyard which Peter felt with its clay and limestone soils would be ideal for cool climate Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Approachable when young this wine has great potential for ageing too. The wines are produced in an ancient restored house in the village of Egna.
